Joe's Family in 1968

Joe has 11 brothers and sisters. This photo was taken on his parents' 25th Wedding Anniversary in 1968. Joe is at top left, a freshman in high school.

Youth Sports
For eight years from 1996 and 2004, Joe rented a small church gym in the winter on Thursday nights and he and his friends would play pick up basketball with his son Ed and Ed's friends. Joe coached his son's basketball team in the Springfield high school recreational league until his deployment in January 2004. This photo shows the team one week before Joe left Springfield to go on Army active duty to Wisconsin and then to Afghanistan. He was gone from home 14 months/2 weeks. Paul Provart, a Kiwanis member far left, took over as coach when Joe deployed.

Joe coached over 18 seasons of soccer, both boys' and girls' teams. This photo shows his 2002 YMCA team. Joe is on far left and Stan Korza who coached with Joe is on far right. Joe's daughter Carrie is to his right. Stan took over as head coach when Joe deployed to Afghanistan. When this team reached high school, 9 girls played on their high school team and 6 made varsity their freshman year.

Kiwanis
Joe joined Kiwanis Club of downtown Springfield in 1992. The Club meets weekly and Joe has earned perfect attendance some years and was Club President in 2002.
